Design Agency Branding

Tovarishchestvo
The client approached us to create a distinctive identity for a new design agency established within a larger creative ecosystem. The challenge was to preserve the atmosphere of Soviet-era design culture and collective creativity while translating these references into a contemporary visual language relevant to modern audiences.

The identity needed to feel bold, recognizable and timeless — balancing historical inspiration with clarity, flexibility and a strong digital presence across all brand touchpoints.

Visual Identity

The identity of Tovarishchestvo was built around a modern interpretation of Soviet visual culture. The naming evokes the spirit of collaboration and shared purpose, while the logo draws inspiration from lettering found on Soviet industrial equipment — bold, geometric and functional in character.

The broader visual language references the aesthetics of Soviet architectural brutalism through strong forms, expressive textures and a restrained yet confident color palette. These historical influences were carefully reimagined through contemporary typography, photography and digital applications, creating a brand that feels both culturally rooted and unmistakably modern.

The resulting identity balances nostalgia with innovation, transforming familiar visual codes into a fresh and distinctive design system for a new generation of creative work.

Logo

The logo for Tovarishchestvo draws inspiration from iconic Soviet wordmarks found on industrial and automotive brands of the era — dynamic, confident letterforms designed to express movement and progress. Rather than replicating these references, we reinterpreted their distinctive geometry and rhythm through a contemporary lens, creating a wordmark that feels both familiar and fresh.

This historical foundation is deliberately contrasted with a vibrant lime-green primary color — bold, energetic and unexpected within the context of Soviet-inspired design. The result is a visual identity that bridges past and present: rooted in cultural heritage yet fully adapted for today’s digital and physical environments, from websites and social media to printed materials and branded experiences.

Web-site

We designed a multi-page website that presents the agency’s services, philosophy and approach while serving as a natural extension of the Tovarishchestvo brand identity. Every element of the interface — from typography and layouts to textures, colors and motion — was developed to reinforce the visual language inspired by Soviet design heritage and its contemporary reinterpretation.

The website transforms the brand into an interactive experience, balancing bold aesthetics with clear structure and intuitive navigation. As a result, the digital presence not only communicates what the agency does, but also demonstrates how it thinks and creates.
